About

Laura is a documentary editor drawn to diverse human stories, and the questions they raise — moments that connect us, and remind us that empathy can change everything.

Laura is based in Los Angeles, CA.

Originally from the Boston area, she graduated from Emerson College in 2014 with a B.A. in Visual & Media Arts and a concentration in Editing.

Since moving to Los Angeles that year, Laura has spent the majority of her career thus far working for Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s production company HITRECORD. While there, she worked as Editor on the Emmy award-winning series Create Together. She was also Editor and Producer on a series of voting rights videos for the ACLU leading up to the 2020 US election, as well as a short film created in partnership with Frederick Douglass Family Initiatives.

Laura also produced and edited a short documentary about a young woman’s fight to normalize women’s bicycling in war-torn Damascus, which went on to premiere at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival.

Since then, she has developed a deep passion for documentaries, and now freelance edits full-time. She is most passionate about projects that tackle the gray areas of complex issues, seek to promote social or political change, or tell the stories of those whose voices most often go unheard.

In 2024, Laura was honored to be selected as a WIF Editor Fellow.

When she isn’t editing, she enjoys kickboxing, traveling, standup comedy, and (you guessed it) watching documentaries.

“I would put Laura’s skills as an editor toe to toe with any I’ve worked with. She has musical rhythm, she has comic timing; her sharp intelligence can cut to the substance, and her big heart can pull on your heart strings. ”
